The Story

Grzegorz carved the eagle himself, cutting through the shell's layers so the wings lift pale from a darker ground. The widest work in the archive, and the most openly sculptural — a relief that also holds.

About This Work

The body of this vessel is a hand-carved sea shell in which Grzegorz Kiernicki cut an eagle in relief, working with the natural layers of the shell so the carving reads against the material itself. The hand-fabricated silver collar, stopper and suspension elements form an architectural framework around the relief.

Entirely carved, fabricated and finished by Grzegorz Kiernicki. Each vessel is a unique work created by the artist by hand.
